New podcast: Drums Accross Texas
Sep 8, 2010

Hal Fitzgerald, a world renowned recording and mixing engineer, today launched Drums Across Texas, a podcast series featuring parking lot recordings of the world’s best drum lines including The Cavaliers, Santa Clara Vanguard/ and Phantom Regiment. Texas High School and College lines will also be featured.

The evolution of the creation of this podcast several decades ago with the desire to create a recording process to accurately capture the true essence of the sound of a drum corps. Not happy with the quality of recordings on the market, Hal set out to capture the audio from a purist perspective. "I spent much time in and in front of the best drum lines in the world and wanted to be able to relive from an audio perspective those moments long after they were over", says Hal.

After a few years of experimenting with different 3-D audio techniques, the library grew quite large and the requests for copies was getting too much to keep up with. The podcast was officially launched on July 23rd, 2010 with recording from Dallas and Denton, TX DCI shows. Within 30 days, Drums Across Texas had almost 1000 subscribers just based on word of mouth.
