Northern Star take a year out to rebuild
2 Jun 2008

It is with regret that the management of Northern Star Group have reached the decision not to field a summer corps for the 2008 season. This was in no way an easy decision, the members loyal to Northern Star appreciate the current situation and have been thanked for their patience and ongoing support to other performance ensembles within the Group.

Lee Brogan, Group chairman, said, "this decision was brought about by a number of factors, which have had a cumulative effect since the end of the 2007 season. However, this does give us an opportunity to focus on our other 2008 plans to broaden our activities and to develop a new junior corps, all of which I'm really excited about".
Outside of the usual competetive scene, the Northern Star Group is already working on other performance opportunities in different parts of the UK, in order to take the marching arts to the public.

In order to add members to the current 20-strong junior corps, discussions are in hand to deliver four further School Workshops this school term, which will develop a local base for the future of Northern Star.
