Drum Corps Europe to change Olympic Retreat
13 Sep 2007

Drum Corps Europe has decided to change the Olympic Retreat. In the afternoon as well as in the evening, the corps will be dismissed after presentation of the prizes.

The DCE management has been considering this change for a while now. Proceedings at the DCN Finals finally tipped the scales towards introducing the measure at this year's DCE Championships as well.

"The traditional ceremony of corps leaving the field one by one takes rather a long time for the members and audience, and we were increasingly asked to do something about it", says Chairman Marcel Matthijsse. "At the Drum Corps Netherlands Finals last week we were able to see at first hand how much enjoyment the members derived from being 'dismissed'. This does not mean they have to leave the stadium immediately, but can congratulate each other, take photos and then watch the champion show together if they want."

The Olympic Retreat for the Cadet Class and the Percussion Class will be held at around 5.30 PM. The retreat for the Open Class will take place in the evening at 10 PM. Tickets for the DCE Championships can be ordered here.
