Black Knights are DCUK Champions 2006
2 Oct 2006

The Black Knights from Gravesend are the new champions of Drum Corps United Kingdom. With 92.7 points, their 'Infinite Knightmares' program received the highest scores from the judges. The Kidsgrove Scouts came second with their Spanish program 'El Art de la Danza'.

The show programs in the Open Class were a sheer delight. The Black Knights and Kidsgrove Scouts were a close match for each other; both corps had an extremely entertaining program which drew the audience. The High Color Guard, High Visual and High General Effect awards went to the Black Knights. The Kidsgrove Scouts won the award for High Brass, while the High Percussion award went to 37th Kingswood.

In the A-Class, gold was won by Concord from Sheffield, who clinched the title for the first time since 1985 as well as winning all caption awards. The Junior Class and Cadet Class were won by the Staffordshire Knights and 37th Kingswood Cadets.

This year's stadium in Burton upon Trent was smaller than Mansfield's stadium used last year, but this gave it a much better atmosphere. DCUK has had a difficult year, but these Finals were a fantastic end to the season.
