Jubal Drum & Bugle Corps has topped the Open Class of the first Drum Corps Netherlands contest, last night in Dordrecht. The corps scored 63.6 points, followed by Juliana from Middelburg (56.75) and Northern Star from Leeds (51.75, 6.2 penalties).
It was a rainy day in Dordrecht, which resulted in a slippery field. Definitely not the perfect circumstances to perform a drum corps show, but the corps managed to present very promising products at this early time of the season.
The other winners of the contest were Willem Eggert from Purmerend (A-Class), Rhythm Stars from Sneek (Percussion Class), and Jong Jubal from Dordrecht (Cadet Class). Eleven Dutch participated in this contest, plus one guest from the UK: Northern Star.
This contest was the kick off for the new organisation Drum Corps Netherlands (DCN). From this year, DCN (an initative of Drum Corps Europe) will run the Dutch shows. The next show has been scheduled for Staurday, June 17th, in Hilversum.
